Achleiten: Weinrausch Has Died

With much sadness, we had to have Weinrausch put down at the age of 23.

This bay Hanoverian by Walt Disney-Darling, bred by Horst Luehrs from Langen/GER that we always called "Weini", was special for me. In 2003, when I was just 17 years old, we started in Grand Prix classes - and won some right off the bat. We won, for example, the Grand Prix and the Special of Wiener-Neustadt and of Achleiten as well as the Special of Wattens. At the EC in Hickstead/GBR, where I was the youngest participant, we finished 25th in the Grand Prix which was the second best result on the Austrian team. Seventh place in the team evaluation meant that we qualified for the Olympic Games of Athens/GRE.

Following the Olympic Games, Weinrausch needed a longer pause after an injury but in 2006 we made a great comeback and won the Grand Prix of Weikersdorf in front of Ulla Salzgeber/GER and Fürst Finley. After a tragic accident in a paddock in 2008, Weinrausch was retired and remained with us, letting himself be spoiled with treats and cuddles. But his health deteriorated due to age.

Weinrausch's full sister Wyomi was one of our broodmares and produced promising foals such as Rosenrot (by Roi du Soleil) and Balsamico (by Bvlgari).

We are very sad about Weinrausch's death and will miss him very much but we are sure that we had his best interests at heart. Weini – we miss you so much!
