CHARITY

When Rosa, the young daughter of the show jumping rider, Matthias "Matze" Janßen, became ill with leukemia, it was quickly clear that only a stem cell donation could help.

Because I was deeply concerned, I took up patronage of a donor type testing initiative that was held during the 2010 systaic event at Hof Vorwerk in Germany. And, of course, I was also type tested which is really very simple. Just five milliliters of blood are all that is needed to determine the first tissue characteristics for finding a “genetic twin” that Rosa and other leukemia patients need so desperately.

Since each  type test done by DKMS for the German bone marrow donor database costs 50 Euros, we organized an auction to sell breedings donated by the Ahlers, Böckmann, Ludwig Kathmann, Klatte, Schockemöhle and Sprehe stallion stations and engaged the star auctioneer, Uwe Heckmann, to run the event. The proceeds were unbelievable - more than 115,000 Euros.

I would like to take this occasion to thank all of the highly motivated helpers we had, the stallion stations for their generous contributions, the people who donated money and, of course, the many people who had themselves type tested!

  • Matthias Janßen, Rosa’s father, also came to Cappeln.

In March 2011, we gave our mare Riviera to the Integrative Riding Center St. Isidor to be used as a therapy horse. Born in 2008 and a daughter of our Rosandro, she was bred by my mother and is closely related to my EC horse, Weinrausch. Riviera will be schooled as a therapy horse by Rolanda Fassl, the director of the Integrative Riding Center St. Isidor. “We could never have afforded a horse of this quality. Without the support of sponsors, benefactors and our engaged personnel, the Integrative Riding Center St. Isidor could not be maintained at such a high level “, said Maria Sumereder, the Manager of Caritas for people with a disability, thanking us. We hope that Riviera will be a wonderful four-legged partner and loved by many ill or disabled children.
